Descripción
Eleocharis parvula, commonly known as dwarf hairgrass, is a small rhizomatous sedge with a wide natural distribution. It produces very fine, upright, deep-green leaves that generally reach 3–10 cm, creating a natural-looking carpet across the aquarium foreground.
It is a hardy plant suitable for both large and small aquariums. It can be maintained under low to moderate lighting without injected CO₂, although sufficient light, a nutrient-containing substrate and a stable CO₂ supply encourage faster spreading and a lower, denser carpet.
Trim any stems that grow above the desired height and periodically thin out excessively dense areas to maintain an even lawn. Old leaves and debris trapped between the clumps reduce circulation around the base and should be removed carefully during maintenance.
